A word from the President

Shipping is the barometer of the global economy, transporting 80-90% of the world’s goods to their destinations. If you have it, a ship has probably transported it.

Thanks to its strategic location and, above all, its liberal social policy, the Principality has become a major centre for the shipping industry in recent decades. International companies have based their operations here and employ over a thousand people.

Created in 2006, the Monaco Chamber of Shipping is the official group that represents them and defends their economic interests. It currently has 45 member companies, including shipowners, brokers, shipping agents, advisors and experts in maritime law, whose activities out of Monaco cover all aspects of maritime transport, from cargo ships to cruise liners and trade negotiations.

Aware of its ecological impact, the shipping sector is strongly committed to finding solutions to minimise its environmental impact. The Monaco Chamber of Shipping supports various forums held each year in the Principality focusing on new technologies, finance and the environment.

The Monaco Chamber of Shipping’s mission is to represent its members in dealings with the authorities and to raise the profile of this sector, which is essential to the global economy. To this end, it is a member of the Monaco Business Federation (MBF), an inter-professional body bringing together nearly 800 companies from all sectors, and is also a member of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS).
