The Monaco Chamber of Shipping was created on 21 June 2006.

As the fleet of vessels managed by Monegasque shipping companies is one of the 20 largest in the world, it was essential that these maritime players, more and more of whom are setting up on Monegasque territory, should have an official structure enabling them to make their voice heard and to promote the specific characteristics of a booming sector.

When it was set up in 2006, under the impetus of the 7 founding members, the Chamber quickly became more representative with the arrival of 9 new members who joined the group during the year. Constantly evolving, by 2007 the Chamber had 20 members, rising to 24 in 2008.

Today, it brings together under a common banner 45 internationally renowned shipping companies based in Monaco, operating as shipowners, charterers, fleet managers, shipbrokers and shipping agents, consultants and experts in maritime law.
